What we ended up with was a groovy behemoth of an album, chock full of riffs refined by Bobby's acute sense of song writing. Griffin employed drop B tuning on his guitar - at the time unheard of - and applied it to the band's 70's swaggering demo sound. Initially going by the name Death Row, the band recorded the demo All Your Sins, which ended up being released as what we have here today - the first Pentagram album.įeaturing some of the heaviest guitar work in doom up till that point, Pentagram was nothing short of spectacular. The band broke up and reformed many times throughout the decade, before being urged to reform by long time fan and eager guitarist Victor Griffin in the early 80s. Formed by the ever googly eyed Bobby Liebling in 1971, the band pumped out some legendary material in the 70's but never managed to commit to a studio album due to Liebling's paranoia drive antics. Hailing from Washington USA, Pentagram have a long and rocky history drugs, prison, mental breakdowns. This is a band that for many doom fans are one of the unquestionable greats.
